EVANSTON, IL – Northwestern closes out its regular season slate on Sunday afternoon with a showdown against the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Welsh-Ryan Arena.

Currently riding a two-game winning streak, the Wildcats will look to end the season on a high note and notch their second three-game winning streak in Big Ten play this season.

In their last time out, the Wildcats took down Maryland, 60-55, on Wednesday evening at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Boo Buie led the Wildcats in scroing for a third-straight game with 15 points, while Chase Audige notched 14 points of his own as he connected on 4-of-5 three point attempts. Ryan Young grabbed a team-high seven rebounds in the win and ultimately came up big for the 'Cats in crunch time, scoring four of NU's last six points including the go-ahead basket with 1:30 left in the game.

This will be the first meeting of the season between Northwestern and Nebraska. Last year, the Wildcats took both meetings over the Huskers to secure their first regular season sweep over Nebraska since Northwestern's historic 2016-17 campaign. These teams most recently met in Lincoln last season on March 1, 2020, when the Wildcats claimed an 81-76 overtime victory behind a 21 points from Miller Kopp and a career-high 14 rebounds and five blocks from Pete Nance.

Tip-off is slated for 12:30 pm CT, with coverage live on Big Ten Network as well as WYLL AM 1160.

Storylines

  1. Dating back to the 2015-16 season, the Wildcats have won six of their last eight meetings against Nebraska, including three-straight wins at Welsh-Ryan Arena. A Northwestern win on Sunday would even the all-time series between these two programs at 9-9.
  2. A win on Saturday would mark Chris Collins' seventh win over Nebraska, which would be his most victories over a single opponent since taking over NU at the start of the 2013-14 season (he also currently has six wins vs. Rutgers).
  3. Boo Buie has led the Wildcats in scoring in their last three games and is averaging 19.7 points per game and 42.1% shooting (8-19) from behind the arc in that stretch. It marks the second time this season, and third time in his career, in which Buie has scored in double figures in at least three-straight games.
  4. Chase Audige is averaging a team-high 12.5 points per game in his first season playing with NU. The last Wildcat to average over 12 points per game in their first season of action for Northwestern was Kevin Coble in the 2006-07 season (13.4 ppg).
  5. Prior to tip-off at Sunday's game, the Wildcats will honor four senior managers (Zane Diaz, Matt Bolanos, Will DiSabatino and Parker Lovett) along with walk-on guard (and former manager) Eric Zalewski as a part of 2021 Senior Day. The full Senior Day ceremony can be streamed live on YouTube.
