Wildcats Add Forward Okku Federiko Ahead of 2026-27 Season

EVANSTON, Ill. — Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins announced the addition of Okku Federiko to the Northwestern roster ahead of the 2026-27 season. The 6-9 forward arrives in Evanston by way of Drake.
"Okku Federiko is a long, athletic frontline player who will bring us great versatility and upside," said Collins. "He is a rapidly improving player who will be able to impact the game on both ends of the court. Okku's skill level will enable him to play inside and out on the offensive end, while his mobility on defense allows him to guard multiple positions and provide strong rim protection. We are excited to bring Okku into our Northwestern basketball family, and we look forward to watching him develop in our program."
Federiko spent the 2025-26 campaign in the Missouri Valley Conference, where he averaged 8.6 points per game on 52.2% shooting, 4.8 rebounds per game and 1.6 assists per game across 31 starts. He scored a career-high 20 points against Georgia Tech on Nov 29, 2025. Federiko posted double figures in 14 games last season and helped lead the Bulldogs to an MVC Tournament semifinal appearance.
The forward recorded a double-double against Robert Morris on Nov. 6, 2025, tallying 18 points and 15 rebounds in addition to three blocks.
Prior to his time with the Bulldogs, Federiko joined South Carolina in January 2025 as a mid-year enrollee, but he did not see any action with the Gamecocks.
A Helsinki, Finland, native, Federiko prepped at the Drive Basketball Academy. He was the top-ranked collegiate prospect out of Finland in the 2024 class. He competed for Finland's national team in the 2023 FIBA U20 European Championship, averaging 11.1 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.4 blocks per game.
