SAN FRANCISCO — Another round, another stellar performance for Sam Triplett.
The senior from Scottsdale, Arizona, logged his best 54-hole performance of his Northwestern career at The Goodwin at TPC Harding Park on Sunday, finishing with a 7-under 206. He surpassed his previous-best mark of 208 from the Bridgestone Golf Collegiate earlier this season (Oct. 30-31).
Triplett carded a 1-under 70 to finish his tournament in fourth place — tying his career-best finish. He started The Goodwin with a 5-under 66 and logged a 1-under 70 in the second round.
As a team, Northwestern sits in a sixth place tie with Colorado, with all of the teams ahead of NU ranked 31st or better. Chicago's Big Ten Team finished 1-over, highlighted by an opening-round 278.
Junior Ryan Lumsden had the best Northwestern performance in the third round, carding a 3-under 68, highlighted by four birdies — including three in the back nine. He finished with an even-par 54-hole score and tied for 27th.
Junior Pete Griffith was 2-over on Saturday and finished 9-over for the tournament (T88th), while sophomore Everton Hawkins finished the tournament 4-over (he was also 4-over on Saturday), and ended tied for 47th.
Senior Dylan Wu was 3-over on Sunday and 8-over overall (T78th), while individual entry Harrison Murphy was 9-over and 22-over after 54 holes (T130th).
The Wildcats have one more event left in the 2017-18 regular season, the Boilermaker Invitational in West Lafayette, Indiana, on April 14-15.
