Weather-Shortened Kepler Kicks Off In Columbus

COMPLETE FIRST ROUND RESULTS

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The weather-shortened Kepler Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio State at the Scarlet Course got underway Saturday afternoon with the first 18 holes of competition.

Northwestern finds itself in 15^th place among the 16-team field after turning in a 30-over 314. A better day Sunday gives the Wildcats plenty of opportunity to climb; the four teams ahead of NU are all bunched within four strokes of each other.

Unseasonable weather cut the tournament from 54 holes to 36 holes before it even began, making Saturday's action just a single round instead of two. Then, the tee times for the opening round had to be pushed back to 1:30 p.m. CT, negating the use of live scoring and sending competitors sprinting around the par-71 layout.

Through it all, senior Josh Jamieson led Northwestern with a 6-over 77 to find himself in the top-50 of the field as an individual. Each of his teammates was one stroke progressively further over par. All of the Wildcats will have ample opportunity to move up the leaderboard in Sunday's final round.
