#B1GCats in Sixth After First Round of B1G Championships

NEWBURGH, Ind. – After day one at the 2016 Big Ten Championships, Northwestern will enter the second round on Saturday in sixth place.
The Wildcats are currently at 4-over 292, just one stroke behind a fourth-place tie between Purdue, Michigan State and Michigan. Iowa is in third place at 3-under 285, while Maryland ranks second at 6-under 282 and Illinois leads the tournament at 9-under 279.
Sophomore Dylan Wu and senior Josh Jamieson lead the Wildcats after shooting even-par 72 on the day to rank 15th overall in the individual standings. Wu opened the day with three birdies on the front nine to set the momentum for Chicago's Big Ten Team. Jamieson took a page out of Wu's playbook, and birdied three of his first four holes on the back nine.
Sam Triplett finished not far behind his teammates at 1-over 73 to sit 25th overall. The sophomore began the day with back-to-back birdies, but eventually gave those shots back with bogeys at No. 17 and 18.
