‘Cats enter postseason coming off three straight top-four finishes

EVANSTON, Ill. (April 25, 2024) – Following three consecutive top-four finishes to wrap the regular season, the Northwestern University Men's Golf team will travel to Columbus, Ohio for the Big Ten Men's Golf Championships. Scioto Country Club (par 70; 7,140 yards) has hosted five different major championships since last hosting this event in 1928. 54 holes will be played over three daily rounds. Play tees off on Friday and Saturday at 8 a.m. CT, while Sunday's final round will begin at 7 a.m. CT.

Head coach David Inglis has led the Wildcats to five top-four finishes this season, including runner-up finishes at the Fighting Irish Classic and the Cal Poly Invitational. The 'Cats closed the regular season with third-place showings at the Duck Invitational and Lewis Chitengwa Memorial ahead of taking fourth at the Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate.

The Wildcats lineup for the weekend will feature James Imai, Cameron Adam, Ethan Tseng, Daniel Svärd, and Niall Shiels-Donegan teeing off Friday.

Tseng has an individual victory under his belt this season after shooting an eight-under-par 202 (72-68-62) at the Fighting Irish Classic in October, an effort that featured a final-round eight-under-par 62 that matched Jess Daley's 18-hole program record (2000). His outstanding performance earned the sophomore his first Big Ten Conference Men's Golfer of the Week honor. Adam also collected a weekly league honor after posting a seven-under-par 209 (71-70-68) in helping the 'Cats secure a runner-up finish at the Cal Poly Invitational in October.

Svärd just is three weeks removed from a third-place finish at the Duck Invitational in Eugene, Ore., helping the Wildcats take third, with a two-under-par 211 (72-72-67). Imai holds three top-25 finishes entering the postseason including an 11th-place finish at The Prestige at PGA West which included a four-under-par 67 on the way to a 54-hole career low 207 (70-70-67). Shiels-Donegan has tallied a pair of top-25 finishes in his debut season with the 'Cats at the Wake Forest Invitational and Fighting Illini Spring Collegiate.

Live scoring will be available all weekend on Golfstat.com. Fans can also follow Northwestern Men's Golf on Twitter and Instagram for updates throughout the weekend.
