EVANSTON, Ill. – Boo Buie recorded his first career double-double and all five starters scored in double figures as Northwestern claimed its third consecutive win over Michigan State with an 88-74 triumph inside Welsh-Ryan Arena on Sunday night. The Wildcats improved to 2-1 in the Big Ten and 11-3 overall, and won their third consecutive game against the Spartans, the longest streak since NU won three straight in 1961-62.

Ty Berry led all Wildcats with a season-high 22 points. Buie added 19 points and a career-high 10 assists and Brooks Barnhizer helped out with 16 points and seven rebounds. Buie's 10 assists are the most by a Wildcat since Bryant McIntosh dropped a program-record 16 dimes against Minnesota on Jan. 10, 2018.

The 'Cats' 88 points are their most in regulation against a conference opponent since posting 89 points against Iowa on Jan. 15, 2017. This is the first season Northwestern has scored 88 points or more against two Big Ten opponents since doing so against Iowa and Indiana in the 2010-11 season.

After jumping out to a 38-31 advantage, Northwestern went on an 8-0 run over the final 1:19 of the first half, capped off by a buzzer-beater by Buie to give the 'Cats a 46-31 edge headed into halftime. Northwestern's 46 points in the first half, its most in a conference matchup since scoring 46 in the second half against Nebraska in the 2022 Big Ten Tournament (Mar. 9, 2022).

Northwestern led by as many as 19 in the second half and coasted to an 88-74 win over Michigan State. The 'Cats shot 12-for-22 from the field and 5-for-10 from beyond the arc in the second half in the victory.
