UNIVERSITY PARK, Penn. – Northwestern returns to the court on Saturday night for its second road matchup of the week, traveling to the Bryce Jordan Center to take on Penn State.

The Wildcats and Nittany Lions met twice last season, with the home team taking each matchup. In the team's last meeting on March 7, 2020, Northwestern upset the 20th-ranked Nittany Lions, 80-69, on Senior Day at Welsh-Ryan Arena. Miller Kopp led the way with a game-high 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while Boo Buie finished with 13.

The Wildcats last win at Penn State came came during their historic 2016-17 campaign on Dec. 27, 2016 in an 87-77 victory. Scottie Lindsey led the Wildcats that game with 31 points. Since the 2011-12 season, NU boasts a 4-2 record on Penn State's home court.

Tip-off is scheduled for 6 pm CT, with coverage live on Big Ten Network as well as WGN 720 AM.

Storylines

Northwestern currently leads the nation in strength of schedule, per KenPom's adjusted efficiency margin, with Penn State second.
Boo Buie is the younger brother of Penn State assistant coach, Talor Battle. The Nittany Lions' all-time leading scorer Battle is 11 years older than Buie.
A win on Saturday would mark Chris Collins' sixth win over Penn State, which would be tied for his most victories over a single opponent (also 6 vs. Nebraska, Rutgers) since taking over at the start of the 2013-14 season.
Pete Nance has grabbed over 70 defensive rebounds through the first 13 games in consecutive seasons. The last player before Nance to have at least 70 defensive rebounds through the first 13 games was Drew Crawford in 2013.
Northwestern has played eight opponents ranked in the AP Top-25 this season, tied for the most among any Big Ten team (also, Minnesota), including five matchups against ranked teams in the month of January–the most of any team in the nation.
