STATE COLLEGE, Penn. – Northwestern fell to the Penn State Nittany Lions in a Saturday night nail-biter, 81-78, in the Wildcats' second-consecutive road contest.

The 'Cats had four scorers finish in double figures. Miller Kopp led the way with 19, followed by Boo Buie who scored 18 in the contest. Pete Nance scored his second highest total of the season, finishing with17 points and grabbing seven boards. This is the third contest in a row Nance has led NU in the rebound category.

Northwestern shot well from beyond the arc the entire night, hitting 42.3% (11-26) of their threes. Buie connected from long distance four times, the third time this season he has hit four or more threes in a game.

Buie found his stroke in the first half for the Wildcats, scoring 11 points going 3-of-5 from deep. This marks the second game out of the last three in which Buie has scored double digits, with three or more threes in the first half.

The 'Cats were active on defense in the first half as they forced 12 Nittany Lion turnovers, the most they've forced in the first half in conference play this season.

Kopp and Nance led the way for the 'Cats in the second period. The duo combined for 27 of NU's 45 points in the stanza.

With a 10-0 run early in the second half, the 'Cats took their first lead of the second stanza with Kopp contributing five opoints during the run.

The lead changed hands more than 10 times in the second stanza in a very close contest down the stretch. Northwestern found themselves down six with 35.4 seconds to go. With 7.4 seconds left in the contest, the Wildcats were down three with a chance to tie it. Chase Audige took the final shot for the 'Cats and came up just short to end the game.

Chicago's Big Ten Team has eight days off before returning home on Jan. 31 to face the Rutgers Scarlet Knights in a Sunday night showdown. Tip-off is set for 6:30 p.m. CT.
