'Cats Drop Wednesday Night Contest to No. 10 Wisconsin

MADISON, Wisc. - Northwestern fell to No. 10 Wisconsin 68-52 at the Kohl Center on Wednesday.
Chase Audige scored 16 points, including shooting 4-of-5 from three-point range, to lead the Wildcats in scoring. It marks the team-leading fourth game this season in which Audige has led the 'Cats in scoring. Pete Nance contributed eight points and tied his season-high with 12 rebounds, while Miller Kopp also chipped in 10 points.
The Wildcats struggled to contain Wisconsin's offense early in the first half, falling behind by 29-17 with 8:37 remaining in the period. However, Northwestern stormed back on a 16-7 run to cut the lead to four with 3:49 remaining, thanks to eight points from Audige.
Despite Northwestern winning the turnover battle five to four, the Badgers took a 41-34 lead into the half. Both teams shot 52% from the field in the period, but Wisconsin hit seven free throws compared to none for the 'Cats.
Audige led the way for Northwestern with 10 points at the half, while Nance added seven points while leading all players at the break with four rebounds.
The Wildcats came out of the break playing inspired defense, holding the Badgers scoreless for a 5:21 stretch and forcing nine straight misses to cut the deficit to five early in the second period.
Wisconsin pulled away with a 12-0 run of their own to open up a 17 point lead with 10 minutes to play and never looked back.
Chicago's Big Ten Team returns to the court on Saturday as they travel to University Park to take on Penn State. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. CT and will be televised on BTN.
