EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern men's basketball is set to battle No. 21 Maryland on Tuesday night in the XFINITY Center. Tip is set for 6 p.m. CT.

The Wildcats have won two of their last three games and are playing their second-straight road contest. The matchup will be NU's fourth against a top-25 opponent this season.

Despite NU's setback at Wisconsin on Saturday, January 26, the Wildcats saw a pair of players — Vic Law and Dererk Pardon — bring down double-digit rebounds for the first time since 2017.

Maryland is coming off a 78-67 upset loss to Illinois on Saturday at Madison Square Garden. After starting 7-1 in Big Ten play, the Terrapins have dropped two-straight games.

The two squads are meeting for the 10th time in history. The contest will be broadcast on FS1.

STORYLINES TO WATCH

THE GREATEST GLORY: The Wildcats are 5-2 this season in games after losses, with the only two setbacks coming against top-five opponents. NU is shooting 43 percent in games after losses this season, highlighted by a 48 percent clip against La Salle on November 23. The Wildcats also are able to play effective offense after suffering a defeat, as NU posts an average of 17.3 assists per game in these contests, which is better than Northwestern's season average.

QUITE THE STRETCH: Senior center Dererk Pardon is set to make his 74th-consecutive start for the Wildcats, dating back to January 5, 2017. Over the two-plus years, the center has averaged 31.3 minutes per game while shooting 61.7 percent from the field. He is also averaging 11.4 points per game, 1.5 blocks per game, and 7.7 rebounds per game.

CRASHING THE GLASS: According to Sports Reference's metrics, junior center Barret Benson has collected 18.8 percent of the total rebounds available while he is on the floor. He is averaging three rebounds per game in under 10 minutes of action per game.

QUOTABLES

"We got good looks, we just couldn't make shots. That deflates you. … Over a course of a game, that can wear you down."
  • Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins on NU's performance versus Wisconsin

"I loved Ryan Greer's fight. He came in, he gave us six points and three rebounds, he stuck his nose in there. These are such valuable minutes for him. I certainly didn't feel like he was intimidated, he came in and gave us a nice boost there in the first half."
  • Collins on first-year guard Ryan Greer's performance versus Wisconsin

"Nobody feels sorry for anybody in this league. Every night is a battle. You're playing really good teams, really well-coached teams. Everybody's got an edge to them, everybody's fighting for every single win."
  • Collins on the grind of the Big Ten
