EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern seeks its fifth straight victory at Bryce Jordan Center Friday when the Wildcats travel to take on Penn State. Tip time is set for 7 p.m. CT.

NU never has won five straight road games against a current Big Ten Conference member. The Wildcats have won four in a row at a league foe seven times but not since 1951-54 at Michigan. Northwestern won 12 straight road games at University of Chicago from 1928-44 when the Maroons were in the Big Ten.

The Wildcats (10-6, 1-2 B1G) are coming off a 70-55 home loss to Nebraska on Tuesday. Northwestern got 17 points and a season-high 15 rebounds from Dererk Pardon but the 'Cats shot just 29.2 percent from the field while playing without starting point guard Bryant McIntosh due to injury. Pardon's 11 offensive rebounds in the game are the second most by a Division I player this season, trailing only the 12 posted by Rokas Gustys of Hofstra against Siena Nov. 25.

Pardon has been Northwestern's leading scorer and rebounder in each of the last three contests, averaging 17.3 points and 10.7 rebounds per game over that span. His 15 rebounds against Nebraska Jan. 2 are the second highest total of his career, trailing only the 22 he posted vs. Nebraska Jan. 16, 2017. Pardon is NU's all-time leader with a .614 career field goal percentage.

Northwestern has won six of the last nine meetings overall with Penn State. The Wildcats won last year's lone meeting, 87-77, Dec. 27, 2016 in University Park behind a career-high 31 points from Scottie Lindsey.

Scouting Penn State
The Nittany Lions (11-5, 1-2 B1G) suffered a 75-69 loss at Maryland on Tuesday despite getting 17 points and 17 rebounds from Mike Watkins. Tony Carr contributed 16 points and 8 assists for Penn State which only had four free throw attempts to 34 for Maryland. Carr ranks second in the Big Ten with an average of 18.7 points per game while shooting 50.8 percent from 3-point range. Watkins is second in the league with averages of 9.0 rebounds and 3.4 blocks per game and a .675 field goal percentage. The Nittany Lions lead the Big Ten with an average of 9.1 steals per game.
