Wu Leads Northwestern After Round Two at Illini Invite

OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Northwestern teed off the season on Friday at the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational, hosted by Illinios at the Olympia Fields Country Club as one of 15 teams. Storms in the area suspended play for the night, so the remaining group from Arizona State, Indiana and Texas finished its final hole on Saturday at 8 a.m.
NU shot a 20-over 300 to find its self five strokes behind Arkansas. Sophomore Dylan We paced Northwestern and finished the day tied for 15th. The sophomore recorded two front-nine birdies, and closed out the first round at even-par 70.
On day two, the Wildcats shot 11-over par 291 to wiggle up the leaderboard. Northwestern finished round two tied for 13th with UNLV, 26 strokes off tournament leader Stanford.
Andrew Whalen and rookie Ryan Lumsden paced Chicago's Big Ten Team, shooting 2-over 70 in the second round. Whalen, who started the day tied for 52nd, sits tied for 34th in the individual standings after round two. Wu shot 3-over par on Saturday and finished the second day tied for 15th in the individual standings to lead Northwestern.
The Wildcats will close out the OFCC/Fighting Illini Invitational on Sunday, Sept. 20. NU tees off, beginning at 9 a.m. CST.
