Svärd, Tseng Tabbed PING All-Region Honorees

Both members of duo were named First Team All-Big Ten in April
EVANSTON, Ill. (May 25, 2024) – Daniel Svärd (Jarfalla, Sweden/Celsiusskolan Uppsala) and Ethan Tseng (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal), both sophomores on the Northwestern University men's golf team, have been named PING All-Midwest Region selections, which were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Saturday.
Now a two-time All-Region pick for his career, Svärd led the 'Cats on the year with a 71.36 stroke average as he saw action in all 36 rounds of play, 18 of which came at par or better. The Jarfalla, Sweden product posted four top-five finishes, highlighted by a one-over-par 211 (68-75-68) at the Big Ten Conference Championships that saw him win his second straight individual conference title and lead Northwestern to its first Big Ten Championship since 2006.
Svärd's showing at the league meet saw him become just the third two-time individual conference champion in program history, joining Luke Donald (2000-01) and Sid Richardson (1937-38).
Earning the first All-Region nod of his career, Tseng battled through a mid-season injury to see action in 30 rounds, closing the year with a 71.37 stroke average that ranked behind only Svärd on the Wildcat roster. The Portland, Ore. native recorded seven rounds at par or better, none more impressive than a final-round eight-under-par 62 en route to victory at the Fighting Irish Classic, a mark that tied Jess Daley's 18-hole program record.
In addition to his individual win, Tseng tallied two additional top-five finishes during the regular season ahead of sharing eighth place at the Big Ten Conference Championships.
Following the league meet, both Svärd and Tseng were recognized as First Team All-Big Ten Conference selections.
