Adam Leads Northwestern On Day One Of NCAA Chapel Hill Regional

Event’s final round scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. CT on Tuesday
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (May 13, 2024) – Cameron Adam turned in the top 18-hole effort of the day by a Wildcat as the Northwestern University men's golf team opened play at the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional in Chapel Hill, N.C. today.

With inclement weather in the forecast for both Tuesday and Wednesday, teams began second round play following the completion of the event's opening round. The Wildcats, who were one of nine teams to complete their second round before play was suspended due to darkness, closed the day with a 36-hole team score of 571 (284-287), putting them in 12th place.
East Tennessee State (274-265=539) sits atop the team leaderboard, while Clemson's Calahan Keever (65-65=130) holds a narrow one-shot lead over Johnny Keefer (67-64=131) of Clemson and Austin Greaser (66-65=131) of host North Carolina.
Adam led the attack for the 'Cats today at the par-70, 7,084-yard Finley Golf Club. The Edinburg, Scotland product raced out of the gate, carding a first-round two-under-par 68, his 14th round at par or better this season, before handing in a 72 to finish his day with an even-par 140 (68-72). Adam, who is tied for 31st, finished the day with a team-best 10 birdies.
Daniel Svärd and Niall Shiels-Donegan are part of a tie for 43rd at 143. Svärd (71-72), fresh off winning his second straight Big Ten individual title, opened his day with a one-over-par 71 ahead of a second-round two-over-par 72. Following a first-round three-over-par 73, Shiels-Donegan, who is making his regional debut, played the front nine of his second round at one-under-par en route to an even-par 70.
Ethan Tseng is tied for 56th after posting a 145 (72-73) that featured an opening-round two-over-par 72, while James Imai resides as part of a tie for 67th at 152 (75-77).
