Reigning Big Ten Champions seeded fifth
EVANSTON, Ill. (May 11, 2024) – After capturing its first Big Ten Conference title since 2006, the Northwestern University men's golf team has turned its attention towards the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional at the start of the coming week in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The University of North Carolina's Finley Golf Club (par 70; 7,084 yards) will serve as the host site for the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional. The field of 13 teams and 10 individuals will compete in three 18-hole rounds, with tee times scheduled from 6:30 a.m. (CT) Monday through Wednesday.
Making its eighth straight regional appearance, Northwestern, which is seeded fifth, will be paired with No. 4 East Tennessee State and No. 6 Baylor in Monday's opening round. The three teams are slated to tee off on hole 10 at 7 a.m. (CT). Also included in the field are host and top-seeded North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia Tech, VCU, Loyola Marymount, Long Beach State, Clemson, Michigan State, Ball State, and Howard.
Reigning Big Ten Coach of the Year David Inglis' lineup will have no changes from the Big Ten Championships, a quintet that features Daniel Svärd, Ethan Tseng, Cameron Adam, Niall Shiels-Donegan, and James Imai. Jeremy Chen will serve as the Wildcats' substitute.
Four members of the Northwestern lineup for next week were recognized as All-Big Ten Conference selections when the league announced its postseason honors. Svärd, who became just the third two-time Big Ten individual champion in program history at the league meet, and Tseng both earned First Team All-Big Ten honors, while Adam and Imai collected Second Team All-Big Ten accolades.
Live scoring will be available throughout all three days of play via Golfstat.com. Updates will also be shared on the official Twitter and Instagram accounts of Northwestern's men's golf.
The top five teams from the NCAA Chapel Hill Regional, along with the low individual not on an advancing team, will advance to the NCAA Men's Golf Championships, May 24-29, at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
