Streaking 'Cats Win Seventh Straight

EVANSTON, Ill. - No. 3 Northwestern extended their winning streak to seven games on Sunday as they completed a weekend sweep with 3-1 a victory over Penn at Lakeside Field.
After shutting out opponents for four straight games, the 'Cats defense was once again up to the task on Sunday, keeping the Quakers off the board for the first three quarters. Penn finally broke the shutout with ten minutes left in the game, connecting on the first goal against Northwestern in more than two weeks. The 'Cats' streak of 18 straight scoreless quarters is the longest by a Northwestern defense since at least 1993.
On the other side of the field, Northwestern got their three goals from a pair of players - Maja Zivojnovic and Lane Herbert. Zivojnovic, a sophomore, converted on a penalty corner in the second quarter for her fourth goal of the season and her second of the weekend. Her nine points this season are tied with Olivia Bent-Cole for second on the team behind Peyton Halsey.
Herbert scored goals in both the first and third quarters, giving her four on the season as well. After entering the weekend with one goal on the season, the senior has now tied her total from last year just eight games into this season.
Next up, the Wildcats will take their 7-1 record back on the road to face off with Ohio State on Friday. Following that, they'll host the Princeton Tigers at Lakeside Field on Sunday. Action from Columbus will begin at 2:00 p.m. CT, while Sunday's game is set to start at 11:00 a.m. CT.
