EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 21 Northwestern concludes its two-game road swing with a midday matchup at Maryland on Sunday, Feb. 26. Tipoff from College Park is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT on BTN and WGN Radio 720. Brandon Gaudin (play-by-play) and Stephen Bardo (analyst) will call the game on BTN, while Dave Eanet (play-by-play) and Billy McKinney (analyst) will broadcast the game on WGN Radio 720.

Last time out, the Wildcats (20-8, 11-6 B1G) fell to Illinois at the State Farm Center in Champaign despite a career-high 35 points from Boo Buie. Buie poured in 22 points in the first half to give the 'Cats a 37-19 lead at the break. 19 first half points marked a season-low for Illinois. The Fighting Illini rallied in the second half for a 66-62 win. Buie's 35 points were the most by a Wildcat since John Shurna recorded 37 against LSU on Nov. 17, 2011, and the most against a conference opponent since Michael Thompson scored 35 against Minnesota on March 10, 2011. Buie is the first 'Cat with 12 made field goals since Alex Olah hit 13 against Michigan on March 3, 2015.

Northwestern will seek its 12th conference win for the first time in program history when it takes the floor on Sunday. The Wildcats 11 Big Ten wins are the most in 90 years, and are tied for most all time with 1930-31's Big Ten Champion team that went 11-1 against conference foes.

Similarly, NU's 20 wins are tied for second-most in program history, equaling their win total from 2009-10, 2010-11, and 2015-16. Northwestern's wins record was set in 2016-17 when the Wildcats racked up 24 wins en route to an appearance in the Second Round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.

Buie has posted 20 or more points in four consecutive games and 12 times this season. The Wildcats are 8-4 when Buie goes for 20 or more points. The senior has averaged 20.2 points per contest against conference opponents, which ranks fifth among Big Ten players. Buie has scored in double figures in 22 straight games and 26 total this season.

With four steals against the Fighting Illini, Chase Audige totaled 69 thefts on the 2022-23 season. Audige moves into sole possession of third place on Northwestern's single-season steals leaderboard and sixth place on Northwestern's career steals leaderboard, with 148 pilfers in a Wildcat uniform.

Brooks Barnhizer chipped in 11 points against the Fighting Illini, the second-most by a Wildcat. The Fort Wayne, Ind. native has scored in double figures in consecutive games and three of the last five games for the first time in his career.

Northwestern and Maryland (19-9, 10-7 B1G) have met 15 times, with the Terrapins taking 11 of them. However, the 'Cats have won two of the last three, including a 67-61 victory at the Xfinity Center last season on Dec. 5, 2021. Head coach Chris Collins is 3-10 against the Terps.

Maryland enters Sunday's matinee matchup at 10-7 in Big Ten play, one game behind Northwestern for second place in the conference. Charlotte transfer Jahmir Young leads the Terps with 16.1 points and 3.4 assists per game. Young and Buie are two of just four players in the Big Ten to lead their team in both points per game and assists per game, joining Jalen Pickett (Penn State) and Chucky Hepburn (Wisconsin).

Northwestern returns to Welsh-Ryan Arena for its home finale at 8 p.m. CT on Wednesday, March 1 for Senior Night against Penn State. The game will be broadcast on BTN and WGN Radio 720.
