EVANSTON, Ill. – Boo Buie scored 23 points as No. 25 Northwestern fell to Chicago State 75-73 inside Welsh-Ryan Arena on Wednesday.
Buie added six rebounds and eight assists to his 23 point game to lead the Wildcats (7-2). Brooks Barnhizer chipped in 13 points, six rebounds and three steals and Ryan Langborg added 18 points and four assists.
How It Happened
Northwestern went on an 8-0 run to grab a 22-12 lead with 13:38 left in the first half. The Cougars (4-9) chipped away at the lead, cutting the deficit to 38-37 at the half. Buie had 11 points in the first half and Langborg posted nine while going 3-for-3 from behind the arc.
Northwestern found itself behind 47-43 in the second half, before responding with a 9-0 run to take a 52-47 lead with 12:35 remaining in the game. Trailing 61-54 with 7:35 remaining, the Cougars went on an 11-0 run to claim a 65-61 lead. Chicago State's Wesley Cardet hit a 3-pointer with 1:23 left to claim a lead it would not relinquish.
