Five Things to Know:

  1. With a win over Iowa, David Braun would become the first Northwestern head coach to win five or more games in his inaugural season since Walter McCornack led the 'Cats to a 10-1 record and co-Big Ten championship in 1903. Braun is the first NU head coach to win four of his first eight games since Lynn Waldorf did so in 1935.

  2. DE Aidan Hubbard was named B1G Defensive Player of the Week for his performance last Saturday against Maryland after recording a career-high three sacks, tied for the second-most in a game in program history. It is the most sacks by a Wildcat since Ifeadi Odenigbo broke the program record with 4.0 sacks against Iowa on Oct. 1, 2016 He was the first Wildcat to win the award since Cameron Mitchell after Week 0 of the 2022 season.

  3. RB Cam Porter is 35 yards away from surpassing 1,000 career rushing yards. Porter recorded a 1-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, followed by a 3-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter against Maryland. It marked his second career multi-touchdown game (his first since 2020 against Illinois) and it marks the first time in his career he's scored on the ground and through the air in the same game.

  4. LB Xander Mueller is the only player in the Big Ten and one of five players nationally with 50 or more tackles and 4.5 or more sacks this season. He adds eight tackles for loss, which leads the team.

  5. With four made field goals and three extra points on Saturday, kicker Jack Olsen moved to 11/12 on FG on the season and 19/19 on XP. He is a perfect 11/11 on FG attempts under 50 yards. Olsen's 91.7 field goal percentage leads all Big Ten kickers this season and ranks 10th in the nation.
