EVANSTON, Ill. — Dan and Susan Jones Family Head Football Coach David Braun announced the hiring of John Lintner as Northwestern's Assistant Director of Football Video and Data Security on Tuesday.

"John is an outstanding addition to our staff," Braun said. "The way football programs operate today requires us to be intentional about how we manage and protect our internal information. His background in video operations and data security gives us a real edge in building a secure, efficient and forward-thinking operation."

In his role, the first of its kind at the Power Four level, Lintner will work in conjunction with Northwestern IT to maintain the integrity of the Wildcat football program's internal data and safeguard sensitive information. His responsibilities will be essential in protecting the program's video infrastructure and confidential football operations data.

With well over a decade of experience in college football, Lintner has forged a reputation as a technological innovator within the field. He boasts extensive working knowledge of football video operations and technology across both the professional and collegiate levels.

Lintner most recently worked as a video assistant at Stanford, where he spent two seasons. In Palo Alto, Lintner developed editing processes to streamline post-game video distribution, spearheaded the upgrade of state-of-the-art cameras, overhauled the Cardinal's video database and enhanced the cybersecurity of coaching staff data.

Prior to joining the Stanford staff, Lintner held college roles at Kansas, New Mexico, Oregon, Pitt, Michigan State and Sacramento State. His work in college football began in 2013, when Lintner served as a video coordinator for Sacramento State.

Lintner also has NFL experience, working as a video assistant for the Atlanta Falcons in 2015.

A 2013 graduate of Miami (Ohio), he spent three years as a student video assistant for the RedHawks football program.
