Sophomore tied 18-hole program record en route to victory at Fighting Irish Classic

EVANSTON, Ill. (October 4, 2023) – Fresh off a victory to begin the week, Northwestern University sophomore Ethan Tseng (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) has been named the Big Ten Conference's Men's Golfer of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Wednesday.  This marks the first weekly league honor of Tseng's career.

Tseng was outstanding earlier in the week en route to claiming individual medalist honors at the Fighting Irish Classic in Notre Dame, Ind.  The Portland, Ore. product skyrocketed up the leaderboard in final-round play after firing an eight-under-par 62 that matched Jess Daley's 18-hole program record, originally posted during the 1999-2000 season.

Tseng, who finished at or below par in 47 of 54 holes and played bogey-free golf across his last 19 holes, closed the event with an eight-under-par 202 (72-68-62) to secure his first collegiate victory and help Northwestern to a runner-up finish in the team race.

Northwestern continues its fall season in just under two weeks, October 13-15, at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational in Alpharetta, Ga.
