'Cats Drop Opener to Indiana

Bloomington, Ind. - Northwestern dropped the first game of a weekend series at Indiana on Friday, falling 5-4 in the Big Ten opener for both teams.
Sean Sullivan (4-0) was electric in his conference debut, striking out 11 over six scoreless innings of work as the freshman continued a dominant debut season for the Wildcats. After loading the bases in the first, Sullivan got a inning-ending strikeout before retiring the next seven batters. He now has 54 strikeouts across the first eight starts of his college career.
Northwestern took the lead after Jay Beshears drew a bases-loaded walk and Alex Calarco's SAC fly puts the 'Cats ahead 2-0. After Indiana took a 5-2 lead in the middle innings, Stephen Hrustich drew another bases-loaded walk and a Patrick Herrera SAC fly brought Northwestern within a run.
The Wildcats would get Ethan O'Donnell to second with no outs in the ninth inning, but couldn't bring home the tying run in the top of the ninth.
Northwestern is back in action tomorrow afternoon at 12pm CT in Bloomington.
