EVANSTON, Ill. – No. 5 Northwestern will look for its third win against a ranked opponent Thursday evening at Ryan Fieldhouse, as the Wildcats take on No. 6 Stony Brook at 6 p.m. CT. The game will air on BTN+.

The Wildcats (4-2) are coming off a week packed with matchups against top-five opponents, defeating No. 3 Syracuse in a 16-15 overtime thriller before dropping a 20-9 contest to No. 2 North Carolina in Chapel Hill, N.C. Northwestern is 3-0 at home this season.

Along with ascending to fifth in the nation over the past week, the Wildcats received recognition from the Big Ten conference for their performances. Lauren Gilbert earned Big Ten Player of the Week honors after scoring seven goals in the Wildcats' upset of Syracuse, including the game-tying and game-winning scores. Jill Girardi took home the Big Ten Midfielder of the Week award and made her presence felt, tallying five goals against the Orange and recording 13 draw controls.

In addition to Gilbert and Girardi, Erin Coykendall and Brennan Dwyer have emerged as playmakers and have each notched double-digit goals on the season. On the defensive end, goalkeeper Madison Doucette has made 43 saves and tallied 16 ground balls in six starts.

Stony Brook (2-1) has tested itself against top competition this season, losing by just one-goal to Syracuse in its season-opener before rebounding with wins over Dartmouth and No. 11 Florida. The Seawolves are led by Kailyn Hart and Ellie Masera, who lead Stony Brook with nine and eight goals, respectively.

Thursday's matchup also marks the Wildcats' Together We Win game. The "Together We Win" campaign is an initiative launched for the 2021-22 season to promote inclusivity and equity in athletics. Each team has one home game as its designated Together We Win matchup, which includes videos, wearables and more.

Northwestern will return to action on Saturday, March 19 at 1 p.m. against Ohio State inside Ryan Fieldhouse for the Big Ten Conference opener.
