LEESBURG, Fla. – Northwestern remained unbeaten on the 2021 season with a 1-0 victory over Indiana on Friday afternoon.

The Wildcats improve to 9-0 on the season, extending their best start in program history.

Danielle Williams continued her torrid start to the season, firing 7.0 scoreless innings while striking out six en route to her fifth victory of the season. Williams has not allowed a run in 25.0 innings of action this season and has held hitters to a .088 average.

In a classic pitchers dual, Williams held the Hoosiers to just two hits on the day, while Emily Goodin of Indiana allowed just three NU hits over 6.0 innings.

Maeve Nelson drove in the eventual game-winning RBI in the bottom of the sixth inning with a double to center field to bring around Skyler Shellmyer. Nelson now has a team-high 10 RBI on the early season.

Rachel Lewis and Morgan Newport also added hits on the afternoon, Lewis also stole a base to bring her total to eight stolen bags on the season.

The Wildcats will be back in action tomorrow for a doubleheader against Ohio State. First pitch in game one is scheduled for 9 am CT.
