EVANSTON, Ill – Northwestern hits the road for the first of two-consecutive ranked away matchups as the 'Cats face off against #25 Rutgers at the RAC on Saturday afternoon.
Last time out, the 'Cats dropped a hard-fought contest in double overtime against Indiana, 76-79. Chase Audige scored 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting with four steals and two blocks to lead the way for Northwestern. Pete Nace also chipped in 12 points and seven rebounds.
Earlier in the season, the Wildcats dropped a close game to the Scarlet Knights, 56-64. Miller Kopp scored 15 points and Audige added 14 points with five steals to help chip the Wildcat deficit to within five with over a minute left.
Tip-off is set for 4 p.m. CT and will be televised on Big Ten Network.
Storylines
- This marks the first time Northwestern has faced a ranked Rutgers team in program history.
- Northwestern is playing their 10th game against a ranked opponent, the most for the program since the 2013-14 season.
- Chase Audige leads all Big Ten players with 22 steals in conference play.
- Pete Nance is shooting 52.2% from the field (84-for-161) and 33.3% from three (17-for-51). The last Wildcat to eclipse 52% shooting (min. 100 attempts) and 35% from three (min. 10 attempts) in a season was Mohamed Hachad in 2005-06.
- Miller Kopp's 87.5% clip from the free throw line is tied for the second highest mark by a Big Ten player.
- The Wildcats are currently shooting 36.2% from three as a team, which would be the highest percentage in the Chris Collins era (2013-present).
