EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern Football looks to extend its Land of Lincoln win streak to seven Saturday afternoon when it battles the Fighting Illini at Memorial Stadium. Kick is set for 2:30 p.m. CT and you can find the action on Big Ten Network and WGN Radio AM-720.
 
STORYLINES
  • Northwestern has won the Land of Lincoln Trophy each year since 2015. The streak ties NU's second longest win streak in program history against a Big Ten opponent (six-consecutive against Wisconsin from 1929-37). The six-game win streak is the longest active win streak in a series between Big Ten in-state rivals. Dan and Susan Jones Family Head Football Coach Pat Fitzgerald is 11-4 against Illinois.
  • Run the ball. Northwestern has rushed for over 300 yards in four consecutive meetings versus the Fighting Illini. Northwestern recorded at least three rushing touchdowns in four of their past five meetings with Illinois, combining for 16 total rushing touchdowns in those five meetings (the most of any FBS opponent vs. Illinois during that span. Northwestern has totaled 400+ total yards in consecutive meetings against Illinois for the third time in the past four years.
  • Graduate transfer Stephon Robinson, Jr. leads the team with 45 receptions in 10 games played this season. Per Pro Football Focus, Robinson, Jr. does not have a dropped pass this season and his 45 catches are tied for the most nationally without a drop. Since 2010 only four other NU wide outs racked up 45 grabs in 10 games played or fewer (Flynn Nagel, Austin Carr, Jeremy Ebert, Kyle Prater.
