Champaign, Ill. - Northwestern fell to Illinois 47-14 in the Land of Lincoln Trophy game on Saturday in Champaign, as the Wildcats concluded the 2021 season with their annual matchup against the Fighting Illini.

The Wildcats got on the board in the second quarter after an 11-play, 75-yard scoring drive capped off by a one-yard touchdown run from Ryan Hilinski. The Northwestern offense leaned on Malik Washington, as Hilinski linked up with the junior three times on the scoring drive.

Washington finished the afternoon with a career-high seven receptions for 83 yards.

Evan Hull rushed for a one-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter, eclipsing 1,000 career rushing yards on the season and becoming Northwestern's first rusher to accomplish that feat since Justin Jackson in 2017.

Defensively, Chris Bergin added to his resume as one of the nation's leading tacklers, registering 14 tackles (seven solo) against Illinois.

Troy Hudetz recorded his first-career interception late in the third quarter. He is the fourth different Wildcat with an interception this season.

Saturday's loss at Memorial Stadium ends Northwestern's six-game winning streak against Illinois, the longest by the Wildcats in the history of the rivalry.
