Northwestern Hosts Rutgers as Big Ten Race Heats Up

EVANSTON, Ill. The No. 18 Wildcats will look to maintain their standing in the Big Ten Title race as they are set to face Rutgers on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT on BTN+.

The Wildcats are on a roll with a 22-3 record this season, and a 12-2 record in conference. With four regular season games left to play, they currently sit a half game behind the first-place Maryland Terrapins, and are tied with the Terps in the loss column.

Northwestern has won five straight games after storming back to win against Nebraska on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore Veronica Burton led all scorers in the game with 21 points. She has now scored double digits in four straight games.

Four of the Wildcat starters, Lindsey Pulliam, Abbie Wolf, Abi Scheid and Veronica Burton, are all averaging over 10 points per game. Pulliam's scoring average of 18.6 points per game ranks third in the Big Ten.

The 'Cats are up to 12 in the latest RPI rankings, according to NCAA.com, and Rutgers ranks 47 in RPI with a 18-7 overall record. 

Northwestern has controlled the ball excellently all season. Their assist-turnover ratio ranks first in the Big Ten and fourth in the nation at 1.50. Sydney Wood and Veronica Burton rank first and third in the Big Ten, respectively, in assist-to-turnover ratio.

Burton ranks sixth in the nation with 86 steals this season and Scheid leads the country in three-point percentage, shooting at a 48.8 percent clip.
