#18 Wildcats Cruise Past Rutgers For Sixth Straight Win

EVANSTON, Ill. - No. 18 Northwestern rode a phenomenal shooting effort to a coast-to-coast victory over Rutgers, 82-65, on Wednesday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
The Wildcats improve to 23-3 on the season and 13-2 in conference play. They have won six straight and maintain their standing a half-game behind Maryland for the Big Ten lead.
The 'Cats were led by a balanced effort from a variety of scorers. Lindsey Pulliam stuffed the stat sheet with 27 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Veronica Burton followed close behind with 23 points on a near-perfect 8-for-9 shooting performance along with five steals. Abbie Wolf also pitched in with 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.
Northwestern shot 59.1% (13-for-22) from the field and 55.6% (5-for-9) from three in the first half on their way to a 37-22 halftime lead. Pulliam had 15 points at the break, aided by a 3-for-4 performance from deep. Burton followed her up with nine points, while Wolf added eight points and three blocks.
The Wildcats exploded out of the break with a 17-4 run thanks to a pair of threes by Abi Scheid. Following the run, Rutgers would never get within 20 points of the 'Cats.
Chicago's Big Ten Team will be back in action on Saturday when they head to Wisconsin to take on the Badgers. Tip off is set for 11 a.m.
