Northwestern seeks first road win over Cornhuskers since 2019
EVANSTON, Ill. (January 27, 2026) – Northwestern (8-12, 2-7 B1G) raises the curtain on a two-game road trip on Wednesday evening when it battles Nebraska in a 7 p.m. CT tilt inside Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb.
LAST TIME OUT
No. 3 UCLA jumped out to a double-digit lead in the second quarter and never looked back, as it handed Northwestern an 80-46 setback last Sunday inside Welsh-Ryan Arena.
For the 14th time this season, Grace Sullivan reached the 20-point mark, finishing with a team-high 21 points. Sullivan enters Wednesday's matchup only four points shy of 1,000 for her collegiate career.
After knocking down a career-high five threes against No. 25 Illinois on January 18, Xamiya Walton connected on three treys as part of a nine-point outing. Walton is operating at a red-hot 56 percent (9-of-16) clip from distance across Northwestern's last three games. Caroline Lau flirted with her third double-double of 2025-26, putting up eight rebounds and seven assists, both team-high marks, in addition to five points.
SCOUTING NEBRASKA
Nebraska (15-5, 4-5 B1G) is fresh off an 81-75 win over Illinois last Saturday that snapped a three-game skid for head coach Amy Williams' team. The Cornhuskers, who have climbed as high as No. 20 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll this season, own an impressive 11-2 (.846) record on their home floor in 2025-26.
Following an outstanding freshman campaign in 2024-25, Britt Prince hasn't skipped a beat this season, averaging a team-high 17.9 points to rank ninth in the Big Ten in scoring. Named to the Nancy Lieberman Award Preseason Watch List, Prince has seven games of 20-plus points this season, including a pair of 30-point efforts in wins over Oral Roberts (Nov. 19) and Virginia (Nov. 25) during non-conference play.
Amiah Hargrove has been an invaluable piece off the bench for Nebraska, adding 12.2 points per game, while also averaging a team-high 5.6 rebounds. Hargrove leads a bench unit for the Cornhuskers that contributes a Big Ten-best 30.0 points per game. Jessica Petrie chips in 11.9 points per game to round out a trio of Cornhuskers to average in double figures.
