EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern returns to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Wednesday to play host the Michigan Wolverines. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. on Big Ten Network and can be heard on ESPN 1000.
The Wildcats are coming off their first overtime game of the season, a back-and-forth contest at Rutgers that saw the 'Cats come up just short.
First-year Boo Buie led the way with 19 points, aided by a 5-for-8 performance from deep. Miller Kopp added 15+ points for the seventh time in the last eight games while Jared Jones pitched in a career-high 11 as well.
Wednesday marks the 174th meeting between Northwestern and Michigan and the first time this season.
The last time the Wolverines visited Evanston in December 2018, the 'Cats battled to the buzzer but watched their game-winning attempt just miss as time expired. Chris Collins is 3-1 in home games against Michigan.
STORYLINES
Join the Club: Boo Buie connected on five threes in a game for the second time this season against Rutgers. He is now one of just four Big Ten players to make 5+ threes in multiple conference games this season.
Stock Rising: In NU's first 19 games of the season, Jared Jones averaged: 9.0 minutes, 1.7 rebounds and 1.7 points, while shooting 38.9% from the floor. In NU's previous three games, Jones averaged: 14.3 minutes, 3.3 rebounds and 7.7 points, while posting a 62.5% mark from the field. Jones has scored career-bests in back to back games (7; vs. Purdue, 2/1/20 & 11; at Rutgers, 2/9/20)
Miller Time: With his 4-for-5 performance from deep against Rutgers, Miller Kopp has launched himself into second in the Big Ten in three-pointing shooting percentage. The sophomore is shooting 41.4% (48-116) from three on the season which is good for second in the Big Ten.
