'Cats dominate against Memphis and IUPUI

EVANSTON, Ill. – In the last two home matches of the month, Northwestern dominated in the Combe Tennis Center, overpowering Memphis and IUPUI with 4-2 and 4-0 wins respectively.
A tightly contested match against Memphis saw Northwestern battle their way to a W.
Northwestern began the afternoon with a doubles point win, determined in the third matchup. After a victory from Chris Ephron and Steven Forman at No. 2, the doubles team of Nick Brookes and Simen Bratholm fought their way back from a 1-4 struggle to a 7-5 victory to secure the first match point for the Wildcats.
In singles play, the first two singles victories of the afternoon went to Memphis. Then, Wildcats Bratholm and Forman countered with two-set wins, both clinching their second sets in dramatic 7-5 finishes. The winning point of the night went to Brookes, who determined the match with a three-set victory. His 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 win earned the fourth and final point for the 'Cats.
Later in the evening, Northwestern once again commanded the courts, with strong performances from multiple Wildcats. The doubles duo of AJ Joshi and Russel Berdusco (6-1) alongside Forman and Trice Pickens (6-2) secured the doubles point for the 'Cats.
The 'Cats showed out in singles play. All but one Wildcat won his first set, with Joshi winning the first singles point for Northwestern in straight 6-0, 6-0 sets. Simen Bratholm brought the 'Cats up to a 3-0 mark against IUPUI (6-1, 6-3), and Brookes finished off with a 6-1, 6-3 mark.
The 'Cats are headed on a four-game stretch of away matchups next week, first traveling to Louisville on January 31 to take on the Cardinals. Chicago's Big Ten Team will return to the Combe Tennis Center on February 21 and face off against Vanderbilt. That match is set for 4 p.m.
