EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern Lacrosse will put their five-game win streak on the line as the Wildcats enter the quarterfinals of the NCAA Championships against the Syracuse Orange. Chicago's Big Ten Team will host the matchup at Martin Stadium on Saturday. The game is set to begin at 1 p.m.
The Wildcats enter the quarterfinals coming off of a strong win against Notre Dame this past Sunday. Led by scoring efforts from Selena Lasota and Izzy Scane and an early-on 8-0 run, Northwestern dominated 13-10 against the Irish.
Lasota scored five goals for the 'Cats, right above her season average of 4.3 goals per game. Scane followed suit with four goals of her own. Wildcats Lauren Gilbert, Emily Stein, and Lindsey McKone also got on the scoreboard.
Mallory Weisse has been a force in goal, amassing 10 saves for Northwestern, the most she's had in a postseason game since 2016.
This marks the second consecutive year the 'Cats have advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals. The No. 4 seed in the tournament, Northwestern has won seven out of the past eight games against Syracuse, and has yet to lose to the Orange at home.
The winner of the matchup will head to the NCAA Semifinals on May 24. The championship game will follow on May 26.
