First-Years Lead #B1GCats in Round Two of NCAA Regionals

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. – Northwestern sits in ninth place after battling back in the second round of the NCAA Myrtle Beach Regional. The Wildcats shot 4-under on Tuesday afternoon and are just six shots from the fifth spot on the leaderboard.
TEAM LEADERBOARD| INDIVIDUAL LEADERBOARD
The #B1GCats were led by a pair of first-years, Lucas Becht and David Nyfjäll. Becht carded a 4-under 68 to tie for his career best and recorded a team-high six birdies on the day. Nyfjall shot 3-under and is tied for 13thplace. The Big Ten Freshman of the Year had a bogey free front-nine and ended his day with a bounce-back birdie to solidify his 69 score.
Junior Everton Hawkins had the third-lowest round for the 'Cats with a 1-over 73. Despite a double-bogey on No. 6, Hawkins remained steady in the final three holes with par.
The Wildcats recorded 22 birdies on the day, the most from any team in the second round and have a total of 34 for the tournament.
Chicago's Big Ten Team is locked in for third-and-final round of NCAA Regionals with the hopes of advancing to the NCAA Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Tee time is set for 7:25 AM CT. The Wildcats will be paired with the Oregon Ducks and Florida State Seminoles.
