Lumsden Leads 'Cats After Round One In Myrtle Beach

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. - Ryan Lumsden is just three shots off the lead after round one of the NCAA Regionals at TPC Myrtle Beach.

Lumsden carded a 2-under 70 score with only three bogeys and five birdies on the day, the third-most in the tournament to tie for eighth place. The senior from London, England closed the first round with up-and-down from the bunker on No. 18 for birdie, bouncing back nicely from a bogey the hole before. 
 
First-year David Nyfjäll shot 1-over in his first NCAA Regional Tournament appearance and is tied for 28th. Lucas Becht also knocked in his first career eagle on the par-5 14th hole. 
 
As a team, Northwestern is tied for 10th place at 8-over 296. Illinois is in first at 9-over followed by Ohio State, Wake Forest, and Florida State while Cal and UNLV are tied for fifth. 
 
Chicago's Big Ten Team will tee off in round two beginning at 7:55 CT and will be paired with Oregon State (T10) and VCU (12th). Live results can be found on Golfstat.
