Wildcats Set for Big Ten Match Play

EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern men's golf will kick off its spring season in Palm Coast, Fla. for the Big Ten Match Play Championship at Hammock Beach Resort, Feb. 8 and 9.
LIVE SCORING
The 14 conference teams have been drawn into a single-elimination bracket, with the seeds determined using the Nov. 20, 2018, final fall Golfstat rankings. Each team match will consist of six individual matches. Play begins Friday morning with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. ET.
Northwestern will receive a first-round bye. The Wildcats are set to tee off against the winner of the Minnesota/Maryland matchup on Friday afternoon. Tee time is set for 1:30 p.m. ET.
The Hammock Beach Resort Conservatory Course is the longest and most-challenging course in Florida. It was ranked third on Golf Digest's elite list of America's Best New Public Courses in 2008 and includes nearly 76 acres.
The 'Cats enter spring play after an impressive fall season. The team swept the Marquette Intercollegiate at Erin Hills on Oct. 2 led by Senior Ryan Lumsden who shot an 8-under 208 to earn the individual title. First-year David Nyfjäll won two consecutive individual championships including a 5-under performance at the UNCG/Grandover Collegiate on Oct. 28. Both Nyfjäll and Lumsden earned Big Ten Golfer of the Week twice in the fall.
Northwestern has won the event a league-best four times. BTN will broadcast the 2019 Big Ten Match Play Championship on Saturday, March 2 at 11:30 a.m. ET.
