EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern will travel to Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday to take on Ohio State. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
The 'Cats are continuing will play their penultimate road contest, their second-straight away from home. NU seeks to rebound after a close contest in Nebraska on Saturday, when senior forward Vic Law notched his third consecutive 15-plus point game. Senior center Dererk Pardon added 13 points and 12 rebounds, recording his 15th double-double of the season.
Ohio State is 16-9 on the season and 6-8 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes head home riding a two-game losing streak, including a setback to Illinois, whom the Wildcats defeated earlier this season.
STORYLINES TO WATCH
GLASS, GLASS, GLASS: The 'Cats have been powerhouses under the basket, out-rebounding opponents in two of the last three games. The Wildcats pulled in 42 rebounds on Saturday with two players reaching double-digits: Dererk Pardon and Barret Benson. For Benson, his 10 boards were his most-ever in Big Ten play.
STINGENT D: Northwestern is ranked first in the Big Ten and 12th nationally in three-point field goal defense, holding teams to 29.6 percent. On Saturday, the 'Cats held the Cornhuskers to 27.3 percent behind the line. Holding the line from three will be essential going up against Ohio State — the Buckeyes two players ranked in the top-15 in three-point shooting percentage in the Big Ten.
PARDON THE INTERRUPTION: Dererk Pardon, the senior center, has scored double-digit points in four of the last five games and has notched 15 double-doubles this season. Pardon is ranked eighth in the Big Ten in rebounding, averaging 7.8 per game and second in the Big Ten in offensive rebounds following the three against Nebraska.
QUOTABLES
"I love my guys' effort. We are having a hard time scoring. That's been the script with us for most of the year. Teams are good defensively, so we got to stick with it. ... I thought Nebraska played very well and very hard and certainly they deserve the win."
-- Sullivan-Ubben Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Collins on the setback to Nebraska
