COLUMBUS, Ohio — Northwestern dropped a 63-49 contest to Ohio State at Value City Arena on Wednesday.
Senior forward Vic Law finished with a team-best 10 points, his 21st game this season scoring double-digit points. Law also added seven rebounds — his 14th time finishing a contest with seven-plus boards.
As has been Northwestern's calling card this season, the Wildcats were exceptionally effective at defending the three-point arc, limiting the Buckeyes to a 20 percent clip (4-of-20). The 'Cats came into the game leading the Big Ten with a 29.6 opposing three point shooting percentage.
NU limited Ohio State to 63 points, the 17th time this season that the Wildcats have held a major conference opponent below their season scoring average. OSU came into the contest averaging 70.6 points per game. NU has performed the feat in nine-straight games dating back to Jan. 18 at Rutgers.
Despite the setback, NU took good care of the basketball, only committing eight turnovers — the fourth-lowest output this season.
The contest started low-scoring, as OSU led NU, 3-2, at the first media timeout. The game was low-scoring at the halftime break but Ohio State led, 24-20.
The game was NU's penultimate road game this season and the last regular season game outside the state of Illinois.
Northwestern returns home to play Wisconsin on Saturday, February 23. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. as the Wildcats throw it back and celebrate '90s Night.
