EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern will travel to Boston College for the 21st annual B1G/ACC Challenge presented by Continental Tires. The Wildcats and Eagles will meet at Conte Forum on Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2019, with tipoff set fot 6 p.m. CT. The game will be televised on ESPNU, while Dave Eanet and Joey Meyer will have the call on WGN Radio AM 720.
Last time out, Northwestern dropped a 72-59 decision to Pitt in the title game of the 2019 Fort Myers Tip-Off. It was the tale of two halves as the Panthers outscored the Wildcats, 47-36, in the second half after NU trailed, 25-23, at the break. Northwestern held Pitt 0-for-11 from behind the arc in the first half. Pat Spencer led NU in scoring with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and was named to the all-tournament team.
Northwestern and Boston College have met five times with the Wildcats holding a 3-2 series lead. The last meeting was a 85-67 win for NU in the second round of the 2011 National Invitation Tournament. This is the first time NU and BC have met in the Challenge.The Wildcats moved to 9-11 all-time in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge following a 67-61 win over Georgia Tech in the 2018 conference clash.
STORYLINES
Turner Returns: Senior A.J. Turner returns to Boston College on Tuesday. The 6-7 forward spent the first two years (2015-17) of his collegiate career with the Eagles before transferring to NU in the summer of 2017. He appeared in 59 games and made 52 starts. As a sophomore, Turner averaged 8.4 points per game, had 17 games in double figures and led the ACC and ranked 16th nationally with a assist/turnover ratio of 2.91.
Taking Care of the Rock: Northwestern has been committed to taking care of the basketball to open the season. NU has 75 turnovers, the fewest in the Big Ten and 26th-best mark nationally. Northwestern has only turned the ball over more than 13 times once this season (20; Providence 11/13/19).
