EVANSTON, Ill. - Northwestern will welcome the Big South's Radford Highlanders to Welsh-Ryan Arena on Tuesday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

The Wildcats are coming off an emphatic win over Providence in the Gavitt Tipoff Games on Wednesday. The 'Cats shot 44% from three-point range while holding the Friars to just 23% from deep.

Redshirt first year Ryan Young led the way with 16 points on 7-for-9 shooting, while Anthony Gaines was close behind with a 14-point, seven-rebound and four-assist performance. Miller Kopp and Pat Spencer joined the duo with 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Tuesday marks just the second meeting between the two teams dating back to 1988, with the 'Cats pulling out a 96-89 victory.

STORYLINES:

Get Big: Ryan Young and Pete Nance both used their size to their advantage in the win over Providence. Young stuffed the stat sheet with 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists to lead the Wildcats. The redshirt first-year was an efficient 7-for-9 from the floor in his second career start. Nance came close to his second consecutive double-double, logging nine points and a team-high eight rebounds in 32 minutes. The sophomore also made his impact felt on the defensive end with two steals and a pair of blocks on the night.

No Fly Zone: The Wildcats defense forced Providence into a number of tough looks. The Friars hoisted up 35 threes, but only connected on seven of them. The Friars were held to just 63 points by the 'Cats after coming into the contest averaging 91 points per game.

Sharing the Spotlight: After graduating leading scorers Vic Law and Dererk Pardon, Northwestern has collectively stepped up to fill their shoes. The Wildcats have adopted a balanced scoring attack, with at least three players reaching double figures in both games thus far. Pete Nance, Miller Kopp, Pat Spencer, and Ryan Young are all averaging double figures.

QUOTABLES

"When we went out onto the practice floor,  I just noticed all the guys were a lot more free… If you play free and you play with confidence and you play really hard and you play united, I just believe you'll give yourself a chance to win."

- Sullivan-Ubben Head Coach Chris Collins on the team's youth

"I think what's improved is my work ethic and being physical;. If you watch Dererk (Pardon) play, one of the things he's best at is he's always working and never takes plays off. Watching him and playing against him was eye opening and what I strived to be like. I can't give him enough credit for being the workhorse he is. Everyone on the team feeds off that kind of stuff. It was huge for me to work with him. He beat me up last year in practice but it was the best thing that could have happened to me."

- Redshirt First-Year Ryan Young on his level of play

"People didn't believe we could win this game, but we believed we could win this game and it gives us confidence moving forward. We know what type of team we can be."

- Junior Anthony Gaines on the team's confidence
