Wildcats Erupt for 7-0 Win on Senior Night

11/1/2019 9:00:00 PM | Men's Soccer

EVANSTON, Ill. – Northwestern exploded for six goals in the first half against Marian on Senior Night en route to a 7-0 victory on Friday at Martin Stadium.

The win carried the Wildcats over .500 for the year as they finished the regular season with an 8-7-2 record. The 'Cats honored seniors Robbie White, Sean Lynch, Andrew McLeod, Ty Seager, Mac Mazzola, Mattias Tomasino and Matt Moderwell

Senior Ty Seager led the offensive outpour with two goals, while sophomore Richie Bennett, junior Spencer Howard, senior Matt Moderwell, sophomore Bardia Kimiavi, and first year Vicente Castro each chipped in a goal apiece. Castro and Howard both notched their first career goals.

Seager completed his career-best day with two assists for a career-high of six points in a game. Castro also added two assists for a career-best four-point effort.

Senior Mac Mazzola tallied an assist as did sophomore Max Silberg, junior Drew Viscomi, Howard, Bennett and Moderwell.

Senior goalkeeper Robbie White started in net and picked up the shutout behind a stellar effort from the backline, including senior McLeod, which allowed just one shot and zero on goal. It was the fifth shutout of White's career and the fourth shutout in the row for the Wildcat defense.

The scoreline matched the largest margin of victory for Northwestern since 1987, when they won 7-0 against DePaul and 8-1 against North Park.

The Wildcats look ahead to the postseason and the Big Ten Tournament, as they await results to determine seeding and whether or not they will host a Big Ten quarterfinal.
