Triplett, Wu Lead NU in Day One of B1G Championships

TIMONIUM, Md. — Three Wildcats sit in the top-15 of the Big Ten Championships after day one at Baltimore Country Club on Friday.

Led by a pair of 1-under performances by the two NU seniors Dylan Wu and Sam Triplett, Northwestern is 5-over as a team, good for fourth place overall. Wu and Triplett are both in a sixth-place tie.
Three individuals are tied for the lead at 3-under, while Ohio State's 1-under day paces all team entries.
Triplett paced the competition on par-three holes, birdieing three of the four he was faced with, while making par on the other. No other entrant did better than 1-under on par-threes on Friday.
Junior Ryan Lumsden was the next-closest Wildcat in the first 18 holes, finishing at 1-over, which is tied for 15th.
Sophomore Everton Hawkins and junior Pete Griffith both carded rounds of 6-over at the par-70 course.
As a team, Northwestern thrived on birdies, totaling 14 in the opening day, only trailing Wisconsin (15). Triplett logged five of his own, tied for the individual lead.
The Wildcats will again tee off starting at 8:00 a.m. CT on Saturday. NU will be paired with Maryland (5, +7) and Iowa (T6, +8). The Wildcat order will be: Pete Griffith (8:00 a.m.), Everton Hawkins (8:09), Ryan Lumsden (8:18), Sam Triplett (8:27), and Dylan Wu (8:36).
