EVANSTON, Ill. – The Northwestern men's golf team will add Yannick Artigolle to its roster for next year, it was announced Wednesday.

Artigolle, one of the top amateur golfers in Hong Kong, will join the team in the fall of 2018.

"I'm delighted to welcome Yannick to the Northwestern Golf family," said Head Coach David Inglis. "He has a desire to play golf at the highest level and a work ethic that matches that goal. He will be a great addition to the team and someone who can contribute right away next fall."

The Hong Kong native attended the prestigious Loretto Golf Academy in Musselburgh, Scotland. At the academy, well-known as one of the best in the United Kingdom, Artigolle thrived both on the team as well as individually, and ranked first on the team.

In 2016, Artigolle won the 2016 Hong Kong Amateur, which earned him an exemption into the European Tour's UBS Hong Kong Open, where he played in the same tournament as former Wildcat David Lipsky.

He won numerous other championships in Hong Kong, included the Faldo Series Hong Kong Championship and the Hong Kong Junior Open Championship.

His high school team won the 2017 HMC National Finals, with Artigolle also winning the 2017 Intercollegiate Tour at the Scotland National Junior Level. In 2017, The Loretto School declared Artigolle the Order of Merit Champion, and named him the Player of the Season the prior two years.

He joins former Wildcats Scott Rowe and Dom Boulet as recent NU golfers to hail from Hong Kong.

In Scotland, Artigolle also competed against current Northwestern first-year Eric McIntosh.

Artigolle is the second recruit announced by Head Coach David Inglis and Director of Golf and Player Development Pat Goss for next season, in addition to David Nyfjäll of Sweden.
