ROSEMONT, Ill. — Northwestern looks to hand Ohio State its first Big Ten loss of the season Wednesday when the teams clash at Allstate Arena. Tip time is set for 8 p.m.

The contest is the annual Social Media Night game for the Wildcats and fans will have the opportunity to win some great giveaways throughout the evening.

At No. 22 in this week's Associated Press and Coaches polls, Ohio State represents the second ranked team that Northwestern (11-8, 2-4 B1G) is facing at the time of their matchup, but the Wildcats have faced three teams this season that are ranked in the top eight in this week's Associated Press poll (No. 3 Purdue, No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 8 Texas Tech).

Northwestern's roster features a pair of Ohio natives in senior forward Gavin Skelly (Westlake) and junior center Dererk Pardon (Cleveland). Pardon led Villa Angela-St. Joseph to an Ohio Division III state championship his senior year. Pardon ranks fifth in the Big Ten with a .606 field goal percentage this season and is NU's all-time leader with a .616 career field goal percentage. The career mark ranks ninth in the nation among all active Division I players. Both Pardon and Skelly rank in the top 10 in school history in both career blocked shots and career field goal percentage.

Senior point guard Bryant McIntosh has 1,576 career points, ranking him eighth in school history. He is five points shy of matching Vedran Vukusic for seventh place and seven points away from tying Jim Stack for sixth place.

Northwestern won last year's lone matchup between the teams, 74-72, Jan. 22 in Columbus. Scottie Lindsey led the Wildcats with a game-high 21 points.

NU faced Ohio State first-year head coach Chris Holtmann once previously when Holtmann was the head coach at Butler. The Bulldogs tipped the 'Cats on a buzzer-beater, 70-68, Nov. 16, 2016 in Indianapolis.

Scouting Ohio State
The Buckeyes (15-4, 6-0 B1G) are off to a terrific start to their season and enter Wednesday's contest having won 10 of their last 11 games. Most recently, Ohio State posted a 68-46 win at Rutgers on Sunday to remain undefeated in Big Ten play. Keita Bates-Diop leads the Big Ten with an average of 20.3 points per game while ranking third with 8.8 rebounds per contest. Kam Williams ranks third in the league with .483 3-point field goal percentage.
