Dylan Wu Rebounds, Pushes On to Round of 32 at U.S. Amateur

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Senior Dylan Wu once again dug his way out of a hole at the 117th U.S. Amateur Championship, this time advancing to the Round of 32 in match play competition.

Wu, the reigning second-team All-American, faced off against Patrick Cover of UNCW at Riviera Country Club. From the get-go, Cover had the control of the match, but he never took a sizable lead. Wu, on the other hand, had a 1-up lead after the fifth hole which evaporated by the sixth hole.
He would not regain the lead until the 16th hole, as Cover maintained a 1-up advantage for most of the competition. Wu birdied the 15th hole and then made par on the 16th hole to take a 1-up advantage and he would hold on to the lead.
Now, Wu is one of 32 finalists out of the 312 original entrants in the 2017 U.S. Amateur. He will start his Round of 32 competition at 11:25 a.m. CT, facing off against John Oda, a senior at UNLV.
Thursday's action will feature both the round of 32 and the round of 16. After the quarterfinals and semifinals on Friday and Saturday, respectively, there will be a 36-hole championship match.
Fox Sports 1 will begin their coverage at 5 p.m. CT Thursday and Friday. The semifinals and championship match will air on Fox, at 11 a.m. CT Saturday and at 3:30 p.m. CT Sunday, respectively.
