EVANSTON, Ill. — Senior Dylan Wu will tee off the 117th U.S. Amateur Championship at 10:03 a.m. CT Monday morning at the Bel-Air Country Club in Los Angeles, California.

Wu, one of 312 entrants in the elite competition, will start on the 10th hole in the first day of the seven day competition.

The USGA website will provide live scoring throughout the event.

The unanimous First Team All-Big Ten selection advanced to the U.S. Amateur after winning sectional qualifying at Village Links in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He rebounded from shooting a 1-over 73 in the first round by shooting a 6-under 66 in the second round.

Northwestern men's golf has seen the pinnacle of the U.S. Amateur in recent years, as then-incoming freshman Matt Fitzpatrick took the USGA'S Havemeyer Trophy after winning the 2013 U.S. Amateur Championship in Brookline, Massachusetts. In 2005, Dillon Dougherty finished as runner-up to Edoardo Molinari to earn berths in the Masters and U.S. Open events the following year.

In all, four current Wildcats have played in the U.S. Amateur (Wu, Luke Miller, Ethan Farnam, and Sam Triplett).

The U.S. Amateur stroke play is split between the Bel-Air Country Club and the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. The match play portion of the competition will take place at Riviera Country Club.

Riviera Country Club served as the host of the 2012 Division I Men's Golf Championships, in addition to the 1983 and 1995 PGA Championships. It will also host the Olympics in 2028.

The competition features two days of stroke play and the top 64 players will advance to five days of match play, starting Wednesday. Two match play rounds on Thursday will whittle the finalists to 16, and quarterfinals are on Friday. Semifinals will take place on Saturday and the 36-hole championship round is set for Sunday.

Fox Sports 1 will air coverage of the round of 64 beginning at 4 p.m. CT on Wednesday, and at 5 p.m. CT Thursday and Friday. The semifinals and championship match will air on Fox, at 11 a.m. CT Saturday and at 3:30 p.m. CT Sunday, respectively.

This is Wu's second go-around at the U.S. Amateur, also playing in 2015 at Olympia Fields.

The Medford, Oregon, native will play with Scott Strickland and Max Tylke in rounds one and two. The grouping, including Wu, will tee off at 3:18 p.m. CT on Tuesday at Riviera for round two.

This week's competition comes on the heels of the U.S. Women's Amateur, which saw Wildcats Stephanie Lau and Janet Mao reach the Round of 32 in Chula Vista, California.

Wu finished the 2016-17 season as the Les Bolstad Award winner (given to the Big Ten player with the lowest scoring average), a second-team PING All-American, a Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year semifinalist, and a Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar. He finished the year with a 70.53 scoring average, the third-lowest in Wildcat history trailing only a pair of Luke Donald seasons.

Northwestern has a strong history at the U.S. Amateur Championship, beginning with its affiliation with Chick Evans, founder of the Evans Scholar program and a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Evans attended Northwestern for one year before discontinuing his education for financial reasons. Winner of the 1916 and 1920 U.S. Amateurs (and the 1916 U.S. Open), Evans played in 50-consecutive U.S. Amateur stagings. His 1920 U.S. Amateur win came 7 and 6 over Francis Ouimet, a native of Brookline, Massachusetts, host city for this year's event.
