Hawkins, Wu Among Wildcats Seeking U.S. Open Qualification

EVANSTON, Ill. — Freshman Everton Hawkins and junior Dylan Wu are two of five current and former Wildcats playing in U.S. Open sectional qualifying Monday.
They are joining Luke Donald '01, Chris Wilson '07, and Scott Harrington '03 as 'Cats in the hunt to play at Erin Hills Country Club, June 15-18, at the 117th U.S. Open Championship. Entrants will play 36 holes to determine qualification, with each site having a varying amount of spots available.

Matt Fitzpatrick, through his points collected from OWGR, has already qualified for the U.S. Open.
Hawkins is one of 77 entrants at Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio, with four spots up for grabs.
He shot a 66 to finish in first place and advance at his local qualifying at Midlane Golf Resort, May 8, in Wadsworth, Illinois. He was one of only 525 golfers to advance out of a field of 8,979 who entered into local qualifying.
Wu, Donald, and Wilson are three of 120 golfers playing at sectional qualifying in Columbus, Ohio. The former NCAA Individual Champion, Donald, and the unanimous First Team All-Big Ten member, Wu, will be playing at Lakes Golf and Country Club, and Wilson will be competing at Brookside Golf & Country Club.
Donald has qualified for the U.S. Open Championship for the last 12 years, and his best finish came in 2013 when he tied for eighth (+6) at Merion Golf Club.
Harrington is playing at Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Maryland, and is one of 50 golfers competing at that sectional qualifying location. The top three advance to the U.S. Open.
