EVANSTON, Ill. — Northwestern men's golf will travel to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the NCAA Regional located at the University Club.

The announcement was made Thursday on the Golf Channel. The 29th-ranked Wildcats will be the fifth-seeded team.

Hosted by LSU, the regional competition will take place May 15-17. Thirty teams — five from each site — and six individuals will advance to the National Championships, played May 26-31 at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, Illinois.

The University Club is a 7,700-yard, par 72 course that is the home site for the LSU Tigers during the regular season.

This is the second straight year the Wildcats have qualified for NCAA Regionals and the 17th time in Director of Golf and Player Development Pat Goss' 21-year tenure.

Northwestern made its most recent trip to the University Club at the 2013 NCAA Regional.

Six regional sites conduct their three-day, 54-hole tournaments concomitantly. The other locales include: College Grove, Tennessee; West Lafayette, Indiana; Stanford, California; Austin, Texas; and Sammamish, Washington.

The Wildcats have finished in the top-three in their previous four tournaments this season, including a second-place finish at the 2017 Big Ten Championships.

At the Championships, sophomore Ryan Lumsden came one stroke away from the individual title after a tournament in which he was the only entrant to shoot under-par in every round (69-69-68). Lumsden was recently named to the First-Team All Big Ten.

Junior Dylan Wu has been the top contributor for the 'Cats this season, unanimously named to the First Team All-Big Ten, a semifinalist for the Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award, and the Les Bolstad Award winner for low scoring average in the Big Ten. He is on pace to knock off Luke Donald's single-season scoring record (70.45) with his 70.28 mark.
