SUGAR GROVE, Ill. — Junior Dylan Wu and sophomore Ryan Lumsden were announced to the Division I PING Midwest All-Region Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Saturday.
Wu, of Medford, Oregon, is named to the All-Region Team for the third time in his career. This is the first such honor for Lumsden.
This is yet another plaudit for the already-accomplished Wu. The Les Bolstad Award winner for low scoring average in the Big Ten and a unanimous first-team All-Big Ten member led the Wildcats in scoring average (70.53), which was the third-best in program history. He was also named a Jack Nicklaus Player of the Year semifinalist.
Lumsden, also a member of the first-team All-Big Ten, finished the season with a 71.88 stroke average, the eighth-best mark in Northwestern history. The London, England, native showed tremendous growth in his second season in Evanston, the apotheosis of which was being the only golfer to go under par in all three rounds of the Big Ten Championships, and finishing one stroke away from the individual medal.
Northwestern men's golf finished in second place as a team in the Big Ten Championships and tied for fifth place at the NCAA Regionals at Baton Rouge and will return four of their five low scorers for the 2017-18 season and will add Illinois native Ethan Farnam and Scotland native Eric McIntosh to the squad as members of the Class of 2021.
